

Frances Monroe James passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at home. Graveside services will be 11:00am Monday, July 18, 2011, at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland preceded by visitation at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland at 9:30am.
Mrs. James was born May 31, 1925, in Lake, MS, the youngest child of Dr. Albert Lee Monroe and Nora Parks Monroe. After graduating from Newton High School, she attended Hinds Junior College and the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. During WWII she worked in the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California. She later worked for the Carriage House and took an active part in The Pine Cone for over seventeen years.
Mrs. James was a former member of Wesley Methodist Church and later St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Albert Lee Monroe and Nora Parks Monroe; her sister, Margaret Monroe Reno; and brothers, Harold Monroe and Lumas Monroe. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Harold James of Madison; daughter, Marilyn James McMillan (Sunny) of Madison; son, Greg James (Traci) of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Christy McMillan Odom (Michael) and Jordan Cade McMillan; great-grandchildren, Mary Blair Odom, Brady Odom, and Meredith Odom; and sister, Mary Monroe Butler.
Frances, Mama, and Granny will be missed by her loving family.
