

Frances Anne Beacham Johnson peacefully passed away at home on June 3, 2026. Born September 9, 1929, in Jackson, Mississippi, she was the only child of Chester Lee and Mary Belle Wright Beacham. Her childhood and early teen years were defined by the Great Depression and World War II. Frances attended Jackson Public schools. At Jackson Central High School, she was the editor of the newspaper, THE TIGER TALKS. Graduating in 1947, she enjoyed serving on reunion committees until the last one in 2007. She received a BA degree with high honors from Millsaps College in the class of 1951 where she was an active member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. After graduation, she worked with Texaco Oil in Jackson and New Orleans, Louisiana, for several years. She met her future husband, Bill Johnson, in Sunday School at Galloway United Methodist Church, where they were married on February 1,1958.
Having worked as a secretary and secondary school English teacher, she was always willing to correct her children’s and grandchildren’s grammar. Her long-term employment was secretary, bookkeeper, and property manager for the family of Mrs. Warren D. Reimers. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed working with the internationals, helping them practice their English. The Chi Omega Alumni Association, the Research Club, and the Calliope Club were a few of her many activities. She was a founding member of the One O’clock Luncheon Club, which continued for over 50 years. During retirement, Frances enjoyed worldwide travel with her husband. Annual beach trips with family and friends were a favorite. She was always happy to help with grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them, teaching them to make pancakes and use the washing machine!
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, William F. (Bill) Johnson; son, William Blair Johnson (Melanie); daughter Marian (Dr. John L. Kennedy, Jr.); and five grandchildren: Dr. William Blair Johnson, Jr. (Kellie), Mary Blair Johnson McCreary (Ben), Andrew Stewart Kennedy (Ashley), Matthew Johnson Kennedy (Hannah), and Dr. Daniel Davis Kennedy (Sydney). She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren: Liam, Larsyn, Mae James and Clarke Johnson; Mary Scott and Hollis McCreary; Everett, Finley and Parks Kennedy; Luke and Samuel Kennedy.
Following a family burial, visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 at First Presbyterian Church Jackson, followed by a memorial service at 11:00. Pallbearers are William Blair Johnson, Dr. William B. Johnson, Jr., Dr. John L. Kennedy, Jr., Andrew S. Kennedy, Matthew J. Kennedy, and Dr. Daniel D. Kennedy.
The family would like to thank the ladies of B’ Nice Personal Touch, especially sitters Valerie, Susan and Terry Ann for their loving care during the last few years.
