

Born December 14, 1942, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, he graduated from Little Rock Central High School. He spent the majority of his adult life in Jackson, Mississippi, before relocating to Birmingham in 2021 to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
He retired from the United States Geological Survey after 43 years of dedicated service and served his country as a Damage Controlman Master Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, with active duty aboard the USS Shangri-La aircraft carrier.
He was a longtime member of Christ Methodist Church Jackson and served as President of the Antique Vehicle Club of Mississippi, where he shared his passion for classic automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Leavell Morris, and his parents, Fred Morris Jr. and Montana Vermilye Morris.
He is survived by his son, Fred Morris IV (Mary Gwin) of Hoover, Alabama; his daughter, Virginia Glenn Hengst (Todd) of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; and his cherished grandchildren: Samuel Morris, Montana Hengst, Mary Ryburn Morris, and Thomas Hengst.
Graveside services will be held at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, Mississippi on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:15 a.m.
