He is preceded in death by his parents George Thurber, Jr and Virginia Duffy Thurber.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gearline Jones Thurber and his four daughters, Margaret Thurber Hatten (Karl), Geraldine Tisdale (Ronny), Georgianna Schrouf and Jewell Thurber (Scott). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Britney Lawhorn, Brandon Schrouf (Olivia), Blake Sanchez (Fernando), Anna Claire Dumas (Ben), Karl Hatten III, and Sam Dietrich and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
