

Georgena “Gena” Ross Henson passed away Oct. 28, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS at 11:00am Wednesday, Nov. 4. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 11:00am, Wednesday, followed by the funeral, and then burial in the Henson Family plot in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.
A native of Seminary, MS, she was born on Sept. 17, 1920 to Virgie Rawls Ross and George W. Ross. She graduated from Jones Junior College before moving to Jackson, MS in the early 1940s. She retired from the MS State Board of Health as Film Librarian. She was active in Broadmoor Baptist Church from the time it was founded until the church relocated to Madison, at which time she joined First Baptist Church in Jackson. She enjoyed being a member of several luncheon and bridge clubs over the years and doing volunteer work.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Walter H. Henson; daughters, Sandra H. Pickering and husband, Dr. John Pickering of Baton Rouge, LA, and Patti R. Henson of Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Olga Ross, Loella R. Piatt, and Douglas R. Ross.
Her family would like to thank the staff of the Rose Garden at the Orchard for their loving and dedicated care. They request memorials be made to the hospice or charity organization of your choice, or to Mission Work, First Baptist Church of Jackson.
