have a memory or condolence to add?

My first clear memory of Dr. McHenry was when I had pneumonia several months prior to starting 1st grade. He tried to take a chest x-ray. Mama could not come in as she was very pregnant. I remember backing into a corner and screaming. He calmly talked to me. He said I have a little girl your age, she will be in your class when you start school. She was for 12 years. He finally calmed me enough to get the x-ray. It is just the way he was. Always a kind word, helpful suggestion, encouragement and a sweet welcoming smile.

Dr. McHenry was such a part of families lives for many years. His calm manner could make you feel better before he even prescribed medication. At age 43 my dad, Jack Curvin, suffered a heart attack. Dr. McHenry took excellent care of him. He sent him to Baptist Hospital in Jackson where he had a triple bypass. Because of his loving care, daddy lived 25 more years. For that alone, he received my love and admiration. When daddy died, Dr. Mchenry called from Madison to offer his condolences and share memories.
He never hesitated to send you to a specialist when he felt like it was out of his league. Nor did he ever hesitate to answer a late-night call. Dr. Mc may have been a family physician. However, his expertise was far more than that. But I think it was his caring and concern for his patients that made him the great doctor that he was.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you mourn the loss of this great man and doctor.

Dr. Mc was a great doctor as well as a great man. He treated my whole family and supported me when I worked at the hospital/clinic. I loved him and his family and I am praying for their comfort in this time of grief. I remember how hard he laughed when Jean Burnham ask him for an antibiotic shot for the boil on her back side. I told him to make it a broad spectrum Antibiotic. So long Dr. Mc, going to miss you.
