Harold Francis Miley

Harold Francis Miley went to his heavenly home and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 15, 2026. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Barbara, after a lifetime marked by faith, devotion to family, service to his country, and a commitment to living with integrity.

Harold was born on September 26, 1929, in Macon, Mississippi, to William Payne Miley and Mamie Lee Youngblood Pell. He was later lovingly raised with the guidance of his stepfather, Benjamin Ellis Pell.

Harold proudly served in the United States Navy from July 9, 1948, until June 24, 1952, during the Korean War. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Navy Occupation Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. His military service reflected the patriotism, discipline, and dedication that characterized his life.

On December 22, 1951, Harold married the love of his life, Barbara Roberts. Together they built a loving home and shared a devoted marriage while raising their three sons.

Following his military service, Harold completed his high school education and went on to earn both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi College. He dedicated his professional career to public service as a systems analyst with what was then the Mississippi State Welfare Department, retiring in 1990.

Harold was a faithful member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. His family is deeply grateful to Dr. Greg Belser, Senior Pastor, and the pastors, staff, and church family for their love, prayers, encouragement, and faithful ministry. Their support and care were a great source of strength and comfort to Harold, especially during the last few years of his life.

The family is also deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the VA Community Living Center in Jackson, Mississippi. The compassion, love, support, and encouragement shown to Harold during his time there were a true blessing. The staff’s dedication and kindness brought comfort not only to Harold but also to his family, and they will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Roberts Miley; his parents, William Payne Miley and Mamie Lee Youngblood Pell; his stepfather, Benjamin Ellis Pell; his brother, Robert H. Miley; and his step-grandson, Trent Stubbs.

He is survived by his three sons: William E. Miley (Susan), Jeffrey F. Miley (Pam), and Benjamin H. Miley (Leslie).

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amelia Bunger and Meredith Phillips, daughters of William and Susan Miley, and Will Miley, son of Ben and Leslie Miley.

He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Gunnar Bunger, Levi Bunger, and Briley Phillips.

Harold is also survived by his cherished bonus grandchildren: Cary Ballard, Jeremy White, and Jaime Crow, children of Susan Miley; Keith Jasper, Kayla Soukup, and Ivey Soukup, children of Jeff and Pam Miley; and Walker Poole and Katie Poole, children of Ben and Leslie Miley.

He is also survived by his nieces and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives.

Harold’s greatest legacy was the love he showed for his family and the example he set through a life of faithfulness, perseverance, humility, and service. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a faithful servant of God. Though his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of Jesus Christ and reunited with Barbara.
