

Ruth H. Murphy, 96, passed away on Sunday June 8, 2014 at home. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS are handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 12:30pm with visitation from 11am to 12:30pm beforehand. Pallbearers will be Danny Murphy, Michael Davis, George Hinkle III, Kevin Hinkle, Chris Hinkle, and Tony Perkins. Services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Lane, assisted by Rev. Ralph Cain and Rev. Percy Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers are Ronnie Lockridge, Kenneth Perkins, Kenny Perkins, Richard Murphy and Lewis Speaks.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Gadsden, AL on January 24, 1918, but has been a long-time resident of MS. She was employed for 20 years at Shainberg’s Department Store in Meadowbrook Mart, Jackson, MS. After she retired, she went to Tuscaloosa, AL and helped care for her Mother for 7 years. She moved back to MS and lived with her daughter and son-in-law and helped care for two of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her two children, Danna M. Davis (Joe) and George H. Murphy, two sisters, Mildred H. Lockridge and Eva H. DeRamus, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Martin Murphy, parents, George W. Hinkle and Dosia Mealer, Sister Louise H. Perry and Brother George W. Hinkle, Jr.
