

Jack Milton McLarty, 86, died Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Arbor. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Andrews with visitation prior to services beginning at 9:30 AM in St. Francis Hall at St. Andrews Cathedral. Private family entombment services will follow in the Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS.
Mr. McLarty was born on October 25, 1924 in Oxford, MS to Chester Andrew McLarty, Sr. and Frances Harris McLarty. An Eagle Scout, he was a graduate of Oxford High School. He earned a degree in Banking and Finance at the University of Mississippi where he also did graduate work. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity and the Ole Miss band where he played the trumpet.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army, 301st Fighter Wing and fought at Okinawa in the Pacific Ocean. He was in the securities business all his life having founded Kroeze, McLarty and Company in 1950. He joined the Philadelphia and Baltimore Stock Exchange in 1959. His firm McLarty and Company was bought out by Legg Mason in 1988. He helped promote and develop the Doctor’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital in Jackson. He was a longtime member of the Country Club of Jackson where he enjoyed playing golf and was also a founding member of Annandale Golf Club. He was past president of the Jackson Rotary Club and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award. He served as a longtime board member of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at Ole Miss. He was a founding member of both the Random Club and the Diversified Investment Club, Inc. He was also a member of the Caledonian Society of Mississippi and the Walter Scott Coffee Club. A member of St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral, Jack served three terms on the Vestry. He served many years on the Board of Trustees of All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, MS and also served on the Investment Committee for the National Episcopal Church for seven years. He served as a trustee of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Love Brent McLarty; two sons, John Malcolm McLarty and his wife Beth of Jackson; Brent Andrew McLarty and his wife Teresa of Chelsea, AL; one daughter, Mary Frances Sullivan and her husband Danny of Katy, TX; one brother, Dr. Chester A. McLarty of Oxford, MS; and four grandchildren, Mary Love McLarty, Michael Andrew McLarty, Andrew Joseph Sullivan and Mary Claire Sullivan.
