James A. "Jack" Cantrell, 85, a resident of Madison, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at Wright and Ferguson in Ridgeland at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012, with visitation preceding the service from 12 - 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Cantrell served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed with Paul Moak Pontiac in Jackson for 31 years with retirement in 1996. After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, wood working, and caring for birds as his hobbies.
Mr. Cantrell married Wanda (Bonnie) Faye Cantrell in 1948. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 64 years, a dedicated father to his sons, a father-in-love to his daughter-in-laws, and a caring grandfather to his grandson.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Connie Cantrell of Temple, TX; his parents, Jesse and Ida Lee Cantrell of Bartlett, TX; and his brother, Bobby Cantrell of Bartlett, TX. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (Bonnie) Cantrell; two sons, Jim Cantrell (Denise) of Madison, MS, and David Cantrell (Cindy) of Hattiesburg, MS; and one grandson, James Cantrell of Pearl, MS.
