Rev. James Alcorn Foster, 96 died Saturday January 10,2015. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday January 13, 2015 at the chapel of First Baptist Church Jackson. Visitation will be from 12;30pm till 2;00pm in the chapel. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Parkway Funeral Home Ridgeland, MS in in charge of arrangements.
Born in Jackson, MS, Rev. Foster was a graduate of Mississippi College and earned two Master of Theology Degrees from Southern Seminary College.
Rev. Foster was retired from International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served for 36 years as a missionary to China, Philippines, and Surinam.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Zelma Foster.
Survivors include: daughter, Sandi (Bryan) Stringer of Natchez, MS; son, John (Gina) Foster of St. Louis, MO; grandsons, Davis (Charity)Stringer, Brad Foster, and Joe Foster; granddaughter, Johnna Foster (Kevin) Agent; and great-grandchildren, Jason Stringer, Lauren Stringer, Mary Morgan Agent, and Pepper Agent.
Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or the Southern Baptist International Mission Board.
