James was born in Sharon, Mississippi on August 22, 1921 to Ira and Newt Holliday. He attended Canton High School in Canton, MS. James married Willodean Horn and together they had one daughter, Deanna H. Barber of Brandon, MS. He worked as a routeman for Kolb's Cleaners for 43 years and enjoyed his many antique clocks and wood working projects. He was a proud member of Magnolia Watch and Clock Collectors Club. James was also a long time member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, Ridgeland, MS and
served as an usher for many years.
James is survived by his daughter, Deanna Barber, Brandon, MS; 2 grandsons, Stacey Steen (Janice) Ada, OK, and Robbin Steen, Jackson, MS.; 1 granddaughter,
Brittany Steen, Jackson, MS; 2 grandsons, Eric Nowlen (Tosha) Madison, MS, and Tim Nowlen (Ashley) Pearl, MS.
Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland on May 20, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation for James R. Holliday will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on May 19, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in James's name to CARA.
