Dan was a lifelong resident of Jackson. He was born October 12, 1935. His grandfather, Albert Fredrick Daniel, was the first photographer in the Jackson area and was assisted by his grandmother, Elizabeth Marshall “Lizzie” Daniel, and mother in The Daniel Studio. His uncle, Al Fred Daniel, assisted until he enlisted in the Navy at the beginning of World War II. Hugh and Effie Pierce were his paternal grandparents. His parents were James Eads Pierce and Elizabeth Daniel Pierce.
Mr. Pierce grew up as an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and was in the boys’ choir for years. He attended Madison Ridgeland and graduated in 1953 from high school.
He volunteered with the U.S. Marines as a young man and retired in the Reserves after 22 years of service. Dan spent a few years working on an offshore oil rig off the coast of Louisiana, was employed with Wilson Geyer Paint Store for many years, and delivered and picked up mail for Sysco Foods before his retirement.
Dan loved archery and bowling. He later enjoyed his flea market booth selling all of the old classic movies and tv series he had watched during his life. He loved his movies along with creating crossword puzzles for the different tv categories and movie stars. It was truly his passion.
