Anice Jeanette Jones Hobby, the lady known to most as Mom, Memama, Aunt Net and Mrs. Hobby was born July 10, 1934, in Kemper County to Otis and Winifred Allen Jones. She graduated to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2026.
She attended and graduated from Cleveland High School in Kemper County, and went on to attend and graduate from East Mississippi Jr College and The University of Southern Mississippi with a Medical Technology degree. Upon graduation, she spent her career as a medical technologist working in hospital labs in the Jackson area before retiring with Jackson Clinical Pathology Lab after several decades of service. She was a true servant leader, serving others with empathy, integrity, humility and respect.
She married the love of her life Billy Joe Hobby on November 10, 1957, and was happily married for over 58 years to him until his death in May 2016.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed serving in her church, volunteering at the hospital and voting polls, Bible study, baking and cooking, pottery, sewing, puzzling, as well as MSU sports. She was famous with family and friends for her caramel cakes and dog bone cookies; she always had plenty of both to share. She treasured her family and loved spending time (shopping) with her grandchildren, especially during the holidays. She deeply loved God, her family, her church, and her friends, with the heart of Mary, always serving and caring for others.
Mrs. Hobby was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers and sister.
Mrs. Hobby is survived by her son Jeff Hobby (Pam) of Madison, her daughter Sandra Ballentine (Bill) of Plano, TX, grandchildren Jackie Bost (Mary Virginia) of Madison, Rachel Hobby Reeder (Brennan) of Mary Esther, FL, Emily Ballentine of Plano, TX, and great grandchildren Jack, Betsy, and Henry Bost of Madison and Lily, Mary Elizabeth, and Catherine Reeder of Mary Esther, FL.
She fought the good fight. She finished the race. She kept the faith. Now she can claim victory in Jesus Christ. Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant! You will be dearly missed, but we know we will see you again one day.

Committal Service will take place at Crestview Memorial Gardens, 1106 Star Rd, Brandon, MS 39042, US, on August 8, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Visitation will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 1531 Highland Colony Pkwy, Madison, MS 39110, US, on August 8, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm.
