Joe was born in Henderson, TN to B.R. and Elsie Summers. He graduated from Lipscomb University in 1965 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He began his career with Taylor Machinery, and retired as Controller at Cowboy Maloney's.
He has been an active member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ since he returned to Jackson in 1965, and was heavily involved in Guatemalan Missions.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Judy Summers and Anna (Dan) Cleveland; niece, Kim Pollard; nephew, Paul Cleveland; and great-nieces, Lani and Kacy Pollard. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.R. and Elsie Summers.
