John Hardage “Pete” Stribling, 79, was received home by his Lord and Savior on May 27, 2016. The visitation will be held at Grace Bible Church in Ridgeland, Mississippi on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 pm, with the funeral to follow at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Pete was born July 26, 1936 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Gaius “Bo” and Lillian Hardage Stribling and his sisters LaRue Stribling Gooch and Ann Stribling Moore.
Pete graduated from Central High School in 1955 and was a member of the last graduating class of the only public high school in the city at that time. He received an accounting degree from Mississippi College, worked in his family business at Broadmoor Meat Market, and received his real estate broker’s license in 1970. He owned and operated Stribling Realty Corp. for the past 46 years. He participated in commercial real estate developments in the Jackson area, and sold properties in over 29 states.
Pete loved The Lord and was a founding member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. He generously helped many people until his last days on earth. When Pete was not working you could find him watching an Ole Miss game. He was a diehard Ole Miss Fan, quick witted with a big heart. His goal in life and business, above all, was to help others. He was devoted to his friends and family and loved by so many who he lifted up with his contagious laugh and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Howe Stribling; son, John Hardage Stribling II (fiancé Katy Brown); daughter, Stacey Stribling Hussey (Thomas); stepson, Joseph D. Howe (Heather); stepdaughters, Kate Howe and Mary Elizabeth Howe; grandchildren, Alex Stribling, Charles Stribling, Hannah Hussey, Eliza Hussey, Lilly Hussey; best friend Stewart Barry and his beloved bird, Mango and dog Lucy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Bible Church or a charity of your choice.
