

John Edward “Ed” Zuga, Sr., 74, passed away Wednesday March 7, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Village after a 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Monday March 12, 2012 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm Sunday March 11, 2012 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, and 9am Monday at the church. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Ed was born on the family farm in Kinsman, Ohio on July 29th, 1937 to Mary and John J. Zuga. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and Youngstown State University.
On June 11, 1960 Ed married Colleen Frances McGee. In 1972, Ed and Colleen moved their family to Mississippi. He was part of a start- up team of Packard Electric employees that was chosen to open a plant in Clinton, MS. During his career Ed served as a Plant Manager in both Clinton and Brookhaven, MS. He also took pride in serving the community. He was a past president of the Jackson Urban League and a member of the Lincoln County Economic Development Board that was credited with landing the Wal-Mart distribution Center in Brookhaven, MS.
An accomplished golfer and former club professional, Ed was a long time member of Shady Oaks Country Club in Jackson. Ed was extremely proud of his family and his grandchildren were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Colleen, as well as his parents, John J. and Mary Zuga. Ed is survived by his six children, John (Rhonda), Melissa Z. Cotton, Thomas, Christopher, Sean and Ann Marie Castenfelt (Dennis), grandchildren, Zack Cotton, Ian Castenfelt and Anna Castenfelt, two brothers, Bill Zuga and Gary Zuga and a sister, Marlene Karush as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Cardell Williams, Ed's long time caregiver, who Ed thought of as a son. The family would also like to thank the staff at St. Catherine's Village for the care and love they showed our father in the last months of his life.

Pallbearers will be John Zuga, Jr., Tom Zuga, Chris Zuga, Sean Zuga, Dennis Castenfelt, Larry Hill, and Ed Pierce. Cardell Williams, Dave Eckman, Bob Larricia, Dennis Howell, and Brian Adkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
