Johnny James McCollum

Johnny was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on June 12, 1943 to Donna May and Wade McCollum. He attended Hollandale High School and the University of Nebraska.

Johnny married Donna Roth and together they had four children. He worked in the engineering department at Twin County Electric Company for 20 years. He also farmed for 20 years in Hollandale, MS. Johnny was a proud member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Sherry McCollum; children, Mike McCollum, Nancy Palmer, Wade McCollum, and Matt McCollum; son-in-law, Pat Palmer; daughters-in-law, Kathy McCollum, Lynn McCollum, and Tracy McCollum step-daughter, Debbie Vogt; sisters, Mary Helen McCollum, Loretta Miller, and Betty Kirkland; and brother, Dwight McCollum; with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Thelma McCollum.

Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00 am, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Hollandale Cemetery in Hollandale, MS.

Memorial donations may be made in Johnny’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, MD Anderson, or the Leukemia Society.
