Reed and I and all of the McAtee family loved Johnny.  Such a man he was to make his patrons feel like family.  After closing his restaurant we would bump into him retired and shopping, at HD he was always cheerful and invited us to come home with him and have a family meal.  Dining at Golden Dragon was always like being with family.  A great man leaves us all with cherished memories.  Gods blessings Pauline and Peggy and the dear children. I have  happy memories from the days I worked for you at Golden Dragon.  I was there when Pauline first came to Mississippi and when Christina took her first steps as a baby.  Because of you, Golden Dragon was the BEST Chinese restaurant ever.  Everyone had their favorites and your slogan was “ if you don’t like it, you don’t pay!” I don’t think anyone ever took you up on that.  We will all miss you.

Pauline and family… we’re so sorry to have just now heard of Johnnys passing. What a light he was on this earth and will be now in heaven! Our family loved eating at Golden Dragon for many years at both locations and when he retired we even did a few pick up orders from his home kitchen.  We celebrated birthdays and other special occasions at Johnnys table, including the wedding rehearsal dinner when Terry and I married in 1977.  My mom Mary Current worked as a manager for Johnny and my sister Cindy was a waitress at Golden Dragon on State Street  so we feel very connected to you. I hope you have as many wonderful memories as we do to comfort you now that he’s gone.

Worked as a busboy for him, became lifelong friends. Had my rehearsal dinner there at the Golden Dragon. Lovely man who never met a stranger.  He will be greatly missed.

Johnny Lee Seto was one of our best friends. We first met him, and later his dear wife Pauline, when he became the general manager and one of the owners of The Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant in Jackson, MS.  He came to Jackson, from Memphis, where he was managing  one of his uncle's restaurants.  He later became the  proud total owner of The Golden Dragon.

Once he arrived in Jackson, there has never been as good Chinese foods as  produced by Johnny and his family.  His egg rolls and dishes outclassed every other  Chinese restaurant we ever experienced, anywhere. 

Johnny was also a gentleman,and loving husband;  classy and smart. One day in the kitchen, while he was cooking, I was with him.  He accidentally cut a small place on his wrist that bled. He was showing me how to cook a certain Chinese gourmet dish. I also accidentlay nipped a place on my wrist and it too bled. We then put our wrist together and bled into one another and from that time on, we claimed we were "blood brothers" !   

So, after moving to FL from Jackson, my wife Sondy and I kept in touch with Johnny and Pauline and will always cherish their dear friendship. I wil forever miss "my brother, Johnny Lee".

Memorial Message to the Seto’s Family

I have known Johnny for many years, from my youth through the years when I came to visit the Seto family in Mississippi. Johnny loved meeting people and was very active in everything he did. He especially loved Chinese cuisine and cooking was his talent skill.
When he decided to leave Memphis and establish a Chinese restaurant business in Jackson, Mississippi, he had the support of his immediate family. Many Mississippians were happy to have a Chinese restaurant in Jackson. He did well and was successful until his health and retirement led him to bring his love of cooking into people’s homes, preparing meals for them.

I shall miss him very much. Johnny, may you rest in peace and may your memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

May God welcome Johnny into His loving arms, grant him eternal peace, and comfort his family and friends with strength and cherished memories during this time of loss in Christ Jesus. Amen. ✝️🙏🙏🙏
