She attended and graduated with honors from Biloxi High School where she was a member of the Honor Society and the ADK Sorority. She attended Miss State University where she was elected one of the Campus Queens and chosen "Most
Beautiful Girl". Joyce was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, the Dramatic Club, Colonel's Club and ROTC Sponsor. Her last years she was chosen queen at the {(M" Club dance. In May of 1949 she married James Burnham Stuart Jr. from
Jackson and for 64 years was a devoted wife and mother. During the past 10 years of her illness she called him "Her Prince".
She is survived by her husband James Burnham and four children, Laurie Elizabeth Griffith (Russ),James Burnham Stuart III (Betty), George Elder Stuart (Gale), John Graham Stuart (Darlene); sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
During her life she loved her God, her family and her golf.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday October 2, 2013 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church preceded by visitation at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
