

Katelyn Sue Hamilton, 9, died peacefully at home on July 7, 2015 in Madison, Mississippi after a long battle with brain cancer. Visitation will be held from 9:00–11:00am and funeral services will be held immediately after at 11:00 am, Friday, July 10, 2015 at Parkway Funeral Home located at 1161 Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS, 39157. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Katelyn is survived by her parents, Donna and Lavonne (LV) Hamilton and her brother, Foster Hamilton. She is also survived by her grandmother, Carolyn Noel Risher of Madison, MS; her grandparents, Jerry and Judith Hamilton of Meadville, MS; Tony & Liz Risher of Madison, MS; Beth & Clarke Thomas of Madison, MS; Shauna & Marc Barrier of Braselton, GA; Pace (Josh) Risher Massie (Courtney & Samuel) of Bidwell, OH; Joshua Oldham of Madison, MS and Noel Risher of Madison, MS.
Katelyn was a vivacious little girl who loved life. She loved monkeys (Mr. Monkey was on the top of her list), Hello Kitty, American Girl Dolls (especially Sara) and the Fresh Beat Band (Kiki was her favorite). She was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a student at Madison Avenue Elementary School. Katelyn was a Girl Scout with Troop #3380 and loved visiting Camp Rainbow, a summer camp for pediatric cancer patients aged 6-17.
Blair Batson Children’s Hospital was a big part of Katelyn’s life during her six-year struggle with brain cancer. The doctors, nurses and other medical staff were angels on earth who helped make Katelyn’s struggle more comfortable and less painful.
Katelyn’s smile could light up a room and she touched many lives during her short life. She loved reading, singing, dancing and playing on her ipad.
She’s now been set free from her illness and can sing, dance and giggle in Heaven.
