Mr. Kenneth Lee Murtaugh, 86, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland with interment in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Monday and 10 AM Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
Mr. Murtaugh was born February 8, 1925 in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, to the late James and Catherine Sheffer Murtaugh. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Heart for his service during that time. He was also a well-known carpenter and “Mr. Fix It” to his friends and family.
Mr. Murtaugh was preceded in death by his daughter, Marjorie Lynn Harvil; grandson, Benjamin Lee Murtaugh; sisters, Catherine Ann Griffith and Mildred Louise Armontrout; and brother, James Francis Murtaugh. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Murtaugh of Madison; son, Kenneth Eugene Murtaugh (Kathy) of Auburndale, FL; daughters, Carol Murtaugh of Clinton, MS and Joyce Ann McEntyre (Glenn) of Odenville, AL; brother, Joe Murtaugh; and foster children, Donna Burk and Lynn Egan. Mr. Murtaugh is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
