Born on January 13, 1958, in Saigon, Vietnam, Larry was the cherished son of Duong Ngo and Hung Ly. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 36 years, Jenny Vuong, and a loving father to his two daughters, Tiffany and Britney Ngo.
From an early age, Larry was actively involved in his family’s butchery business in Vietnam. Upon immigrating to the United States in 1979, he dedicated himself to the restaurant industry, driven by a heartfelt commitment to sponsor his siblings and share the opportunities he had discovered. Prior to his arrival in New Orleans, he met Jenny Vuong at the refugee camp in Malaysia. Their love blossomed even from a distance through countless letters, phone calls, and visits, culminating in their lovely union in 1987.
Larry found fulfillment in the restaurant industry, where he not only excelled professionally but also built lasting friendships with those he served and worked alongside. He found joy in gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his loved ones. Larry also had a passion for learning about a variety of topics, especially history and culture. The beach held a special place in his heart, providing him with peace and contentment.
As a father, Larry was an unwavering source of love and support for Tiffany and Britney. Whether it was planning unforgettable road trips, helping them transition through the seasons of life, or sharing meaningful talks, his presence provided boundless affection and encouragement.
His kindness extended far beyond his immediate family, as he was a proud brother, godfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Larry expressed his love by cooking delicious, thoughtful meals, happily celebrating milestones of his nieces and nephews, and making memories with his godson by taking him fishing, to the movies, and the arcade. He even delightfully fed the lucky cats that wandered into his life.
Larry will be remembered for touching many with his selflessness and generosity and for entertaining others through his vibrant storytelling and witty humor. His love for family and friends, coupled with his resilience and strength, left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jenny Vuong; daughters, Tiffany and Britney Ngo; brothers, Minh Ngo, David Ngo, and Derek Ng; sisters, Muoi Ngo and Holly Ngo; godson, Andy Ngo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Duong Ngo and Hung Ly.
