After graduating from Jackson Prep in 1980, Lee Ann attended The University of Mississippi in Oxford where she was a Kappa Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha little sister. In 1986, she earned a Bacculaureate of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi School of Nursing. She spent most of her career working in the ICU, PACU, and AM Admissions at St Dominic hospital. She loved spending time with her patients and had a special love for the elderly.
Lee Ann married Kevin Kantor of Clarksdale, MS in 1994 and they made their home in northeast Jackson and later Canton. They were blessed with two sons, Luke and Kyle, who brought her more love and joy than she knew earthly possible.
Lee Ann was a member of Pinelake Lake Church in Madison. Over the years, she volunteered in the church Sunday school, at camps, at school, for Junior Tennis Teams, and also at Mission First.
In her free time, she enjoyed laughing with friends, listening to music, traveling, attending Ole Miss football and baseball games, reading, and enjoying God’s handiwork and blessings.
In addition to Kevin, Luke and Kyle, she is survived by her immediate family including sister, Mary Kathryn McKell of Ridgeland, MS, and brother Stewart (Linda) McKell of Oxford, MS and her stepmother, Jackie McKell of Ridgeland.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Margaret Stewart and William M. McKell MD.
She was so appreciative of the family and friends who supported, encouraged, and reached out during her her illness. Small acts of kindness can make an eternal difference.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10th from 8:30 am to 9:00 am at Parkway Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow.
She requested no flowers but any memorials be made to Pinelake Church, Mission First, or your favorite charity.
