

After a courageous battle, Lieutenant Colonel Lee Arthur Love, 59, was called into the arms of his Lord and Savior on December 8, 2015 at his home. Lee was born on November 2, 1956 to Cornelious Love and Juanita Hicks in Dos Palos, California.
Serving his country and traveling the world, he made Clinton, Mississippi his last duty station. Lee enlisted in the United States Army in 1977. In 1980, he attended Officers Candidate Training and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Lee was a lifelong learner and earned degrees from Merced College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and studied at Jackson State University and Mississippi College. He proudly served as a helicopter pilot and continued his career in the United States Army Reserves, retiring with 24 years commissioned service, active duty, and active reserves. After retirement, Lee devoted much of his time to mentoring students in the United States Army JROTC program as a Senior Army Instructor.
Lee was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed spending quality time with his family, traveling, and fishing. He leaves to mourn his forever loves, his wife of 38 years, Teresa Banks Love; two loving children, Errick Armstrong Love, Erika Love Tanner and husband Carlos; and his grandsons and best friends whom he took great pride in, Carr and Chase Tanner. He also leaves behind his brothers in California, Eugene Woodmore, Randolph Woodmore, Luscious Woodmore, Archie Love (MO), and Alfred Love; and sisters in California, Shirley (Adolphus) Curlin, Glenda Adams, Elizabeth Jones, Juanemia (Harold) Cotton, Jessie Mae Harris (MO), Beatrice Magness and Naomi Slaton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rotheree Woodmore, and sister, Delenna Faye Harris.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. with graveside memorial services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Memorial donations may he made in Lee’s name to the American Cancer Society or the disabled veteran charity of choice.
The family would like to thanks MD Anderson Cancer Center, physicians Dr. Justin Baker, Dr. Murphy Martin, Dr. Lee Nicols and their staff, and Hospice Ministries for their care and compassion over the past several months.
