David, "as he was known by all", was born in Carthage Mississippi on July 25, 1937 the only child of Ulna and Leon Howell. David attended Carthage High School and graduated from MSU with a Business Degree.
David married the love of his life Kay Ware in 1959, who proceeded him in death. Surviving family 3 daughters,: Tish Wheat (spouse Joey), Tonya Stockstill (Jamie Jones) and Holly (spouse Ken) Bowman, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren: Marcus Cooksey (spouse Stormy), Sean Patrick Cooksey, Trace Stockstill (spouse Ali), John David Stockstill (Haley Nichols), Kaylynn Stockstill, Chrissy Wheat, Caiden Cooksey, Tristen Cooksey and Joe Wheat. There are too many other persons that David called "family" to list.
David had a very busy and active life including but not limited to the 32 yrs in the Army National Guard and 20+ years in sales. He was active in the American Legion, The Mississippi Quarter Horse and Youth Associations, The Mississippi High School Rodeo Association, and the Eastern and Southern Cutting Horse Associations. He was also active with his Sunday School Class at his church.
Services will be conducted at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS on April 3, 2017 at 1 pm. Visitation will be on Sunday April 2, 2017 3-6pm and Monday April 3, 2017 from 12-1pm prior to the services. Graveside military honor guard will be conducted at the mausoleum prior to internment.
