Lolita S. Hannon

Lolita Starnes Hannon of Ridgeland, MS joined her Heavenly Father on March 4, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS on Monday, March 9 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:30 am.

Lolita was born May 30, 1931. She was the youngest of five children born to Vearl and Ruth Starnes in Munford, TN. She graduated from Munford High School in 1949 and worked at Wilson Company where she met her husband Johnny. They were married January 6, 1952 and lived in Memphis. Johnny and Lolita became interested in the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise after visits in their home by Colonel Sanders. In 1962, they bought the first Mississippi franchise and moved to Jackson. Together, after years of hard work, they built their business up to 24 locations. Over 50 years later, the business is still thriving.

Lolita was an active member of Southside Assembly of God where she was a Sunday school teacher, Youth Sponsor, and Leader of Ladies Ministries. Most recently she was a member of Christ Life Church of the Highlands where she served as a leader for the Senior Adults. Her church and her family were the most important things in her life.

For many years, Lolita was a member of Federation of Women’s Clubs (Asgard); Children’s Theatre; Continental Luncheon Club; as well as several other social clubs. She was also a member and volunteer of many civic organizations. She was always so generous to open her home for church, social and charitable gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Wilma Lindsey and Dot Hanks. She is survived by her husband, John L Hannon, sons; Mike, Mitch (Becky), Kirk (Stacey); grandchildren; Kenzie and John Porter Hannon, Elizabeth and Caroline Hannon and their mother, Elizabeth. Also, her sister Jean Cummings(Bartlett, TN) and brother Vearl Porter Starnes(Franklin, TN),several nieces, nephews and many, many longtime friends.
