Lynrose Walker Lymberis

Lynrose was born on March 1, 1922, to Bennie and Ella Godbold Walker in the community of Auburn, Mississippi, which later became known as Smithdale. She graduated from Auburn Senior High School in 1939 and went on to attend Southwest Junior College and Phillips Business School.

From an early age, Lynrose attended Mars Hill Baptist Church with her family and was baptized in the Amite River. Her baptism was a memorable family occasion: her mother, Ella, had sewn nails into the hem of Lynrose’s dress to weigh it down and make sure it would not rise up in the river. It was a story that remained a treasured part of her family’s history.

Throughout her long and accomplished career, Lynrose served the people of Mississippi in several capacities. She worked as a secretary for the Mississippi Game & Fish Commission before joining the Public Service Commission, where she advanced from secretary to court reporter. She then served as a court reporter for the Hinds County Courts. After leaving Hinds County, Lynrose established her own business as an independent court reporter. She was highly skilled in shorthand stenography, a talent that served her throughout her distinguished career.

Lynrose was an avid bridge player and enjoyed many years of playing with friends through several clubs at Colonial Country Club and Jackson Country Club. Bridge brought her many lasting friendships and countless hours of enjoyment throughout her life. She was also an avid reader and continued to read without glasses until just a month before her passing—a remarkable testament to her sharp mind and lifelong love of reading.

Lynrose and her husband also enjoyed spending time at their lake house on Lake Lorman, where they hosted many gatherings over the years. Fishing with bamboo poles from the pier, swimming in the lake, and taking boat rides were among the many simple pleasures enjoyed there. The lake house was a special place where Lynrose enjoyed time with the people she loved and created many cherished memories.

Family was at the center of Lynrose’s life. She is survived by her daughter, Temple Lynn Lymberis; her brother, Jimmy Ben Walker (Anne); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas John Lymberis; and her sisters, Wanza Joy Walker Broome and Kay Jean Walker Brewer.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Rose Amos for her unwavering support and care for Lynrose in her later years. They also thank the entire team who cared for Lynrose for their kindness, compassion, and dedication. Rose and the entire team hold a special place in the hearts of Lynrose’s family, who are deeply grateful for all they did.

Lynrose lived a remarkable 104 years, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, faith, and love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS 39157, US, on September 8, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm in the Trinity Mausoleum at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
