Mabel Jane McCluer

Mabel Jane McCluer, 84, of Brandon passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at University Medical Center. Born in Shannon, Mississippi, she graduated from Mississippi University of Women, and retired as a school teacher for the Jackson Public School System. Mrs. McCluer was a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook. Mabel found great joy in spending time with her family.

Mabel was preceded in death by her son, James Mitchell McCluer; two brothers, John Gordon Wiygul and Clayton Wiygul.

Mabel is survived by her husband, James A. McCluer; brothers, Glen Grafton Wiygul (Sherri), and Frank Mitchell Wiygul (Nell); sons, Allan (Ginger), Clayton (Lesa); daughters, Jane Leigh Bechtol (Lee), Mary Ann McCluer, and Sara Nell Blackwell (Bishop); eight grandchildren, Matthew, Conner, Nelson, Alex, Ian, Nicole, Parker and Ryan.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Monday, May 6, 2013, with visitation from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. Services are being provided by Wright & Ferguson with interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
