
Margaret Williams Maxwell passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at The Blake at Township assisted living facility in Ridgeland, MS. She was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on June 23, 1920 to the late Maude Case Williams and Earl P Williams, Sr. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Chet Zomkowski.
She is survived by her nephew, Earl P Williams, III (Gayle) of Hernando, MS and her great nieces, Jacqueline D Williams Gore of Bartlett, TN and Gina A Williams Dukes (Stephen) of Germantown, TN, as well as several great-great nieces and nephews who reside in Tennessee.
In her early years, Margaret enjoyed spending time traveling with her father to open Coca Cola plants. This experience was instrumental in her career selection. She graduated from Millsaps College in 1942 with a degree in drafting and began her career as a draftsman for an engineering firm in the Petroleum industry. She attended night school to study geology and eventually moved to mobile Alabama where she continued her career as a Geological Draftsman. In 1945, she married Chet Zomkowski of Baltimore, MD and relocated to Baltimore. While in Baltimore, she was asked to serve as a princess in the Sesquicentennial Celebration. After 5 years in Baltimore, she relocated back to Jackson, MS and continued her career in the petroleum industry until her retirement in 1986. Margaret was also a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS on Thursday, May 5. The buried will be at Lakewood Memorial Park immediately following the service.
