Margaret Anne was born in Columbia, MS to Hugh Miller Stevenson and Miriam Callender Stevenson. She attended First Baptist Church, Columbia, where she served as Sunday School teacher and with the Youth Programs as Bible Drill Director. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. After college she worked as a Flight Attendant with American Airlines and was based at Chicago O’Hare Airport.
Margaret married Fleet Morris in 1957. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2013.
Margaret had the heart and soul of a true artist. She had a rare and genuine appreciation for the beauty surrounding us: Beauty in architecture, in antiques, in music, in poetry and how it can touch your deepest feelings. She would often say, “everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” Margaret not only saw it, she embraced beauty.
Experiencing beauty to her was like seeing God’s handwriting.
One thing she enjoyed was walking through the woods on their farm with her beloved husband and being reminded, as he always did, to stop and listen to the silence.
She was kind, gentle, mindful, and so elegant, but most of all she was a lady who always spoke of God’s love and grace in her life.
Those we love don’t go away, they walk with us every day: Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Margaret Anne Morris is and will always be a cherished treasure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Jerry Miller Mitchell. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell W. Morris (Stephanie) of Collins, MS, Bradley C. Morris (Sissy) of Madison, and daughter, Julie Margaret Morris, of Madison, MS.; grandchildren, Whitney Morris Frasier, Daniel Morris, Emily Morris, and John Fleet Morris; and great-grandchildren, James Fleet Frasier, Caleb Morris Frasier, Asa Emmett Frasier, Shepherd Bradley Morris, Lydia Margaret Frasier, and Ann Richard Morris.
