

Margaret Louise "Easie" Mercier Wooley, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2015. Easie was born on February 1, 1928, the sixth child of Frances Blount and John Dewitt Mercier. She grew up in Corinth, MS, first on a dairy farm and then in the "city". She attended Mississippi State College for Women (MUW), where she was a member of numerous clubs including the Lockhearts and Hottentots. A Bacteriology Major, she was also a member of the Chemistry and Make-Up Clubs. Spending much time with her twin brother Judge and her beau, OB, she was also a Kappa Sigma Sweetheart at Mississippi State. On March 10, 1951, she married the love of her life, O.B. Wooley, Jr. of Marks, MS. Easie and O.B. began their family in Nashville as O.B. began his studies at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. O.B. completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1960 in Nashville, after which they moved to Jackson, MS, to continue their 62 years of marriage.
Easie loved life and had many interests. She was an accomplished tennis player, loved to travel and entertain friends and family at her home, excelled at the culinary arts and always found time to participate in her children and grandchildren's activities. Easie and O.B. treasured their family and friends. They were founding and very active members of Northminster Baptist Church.
Easie is survived by her twin brother, George "Judge" Mercier of Corinth, and her children Otis Burton Wooley, III and his wife Ginger, John Russell Wooley and his wife Becky, Laura Louise Wooley and Dudley Dewitt Wooley and his wife Julie. She is also survived by six grandchildren - Kari Louise Wooley, Laura Lee Wooley Russell (her husband Jordan), Jean Marie Wooley, Elizabeth Gates Wooley, Clayton Mercier Wooley and John Burton Wooley.
Visitation will be held at Northminster Baptist Church, 3955 Ridgewood Road, on Wednesday, December 30 from 4 to 6 pm, and on Thursday, December 31, beginning at 9 am. Funeral services will be held in the sanctuary at Northminster Baptist Church at 10 am on Thursday, December 31. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be directed to Northminster Baptist Church (3955 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211) or Baptist Health Foundation (1225 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39202).
