
Marjorie Flynt Cloer (Marge) 92 expired in hospice care at the Sonny Montgomery Veterans’ Memorial Hospital on December 16, 2013, after several years of battling Alzheimer’s. She previously resided at The Orchard of Ridgeland, Mississippi, but was a South Jackson resident for fifty plus years and a native of Mount Olive, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eldry Flynt of Mount Olive. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Carl Clinton Cloer, Sr., a GM&O railroad retiree and World War II Veteran. Marjorie, herself, was a World War II Veteran as well as a former cheerleader for Mt. Olive High School, a former model for Macy’s in NYC, and former nurse at the Veterans’ Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Marjorie is survived by two brothers: John Allen Flynt (Janice) of New Hebron; George Flynt (Donna) of St. Catherine’s Village in Madison and three sons: Carl Clinton Cloer, Jr. (Linda) of Gautier, Mississippi; David Randolph Cloer (Patricia) of Terry, Mississippi; and Mark Flynt Cloer, Sr. (Marlette) of Madison; four grand children: Mark Flynt Cloer, Jr. of Richland; Christine Cloer Hampton (Scott) of Petal; Candace Cloer Griggs of Terry; Austin Thomas Cloer (Savannah) of Pensacola, FL; and Kaelan Marlette Cloer of Madison; three great grandchildren: Sydni Rivers Cloer of Madison; Hayes Flynt Cloer of Terry; and Cameron Ashley Cloer of Terry; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. An additional survivor is Sue Cloer Creel, sister-in-law of Jackson.
Marjorie was an active member of Alta Woods Baptist Church, South Jackson, for more than fifty years. A Memorial service will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, Ridgeland, Mississippi,with visitation at 10:00 am prior to the service at December 21st at 11:00 am . She will be laid to rest following the funeral in Mount Olive, Mississippi at 1:00 pm, where her parents and her husband Carl C. Cloer, Sr. are interred.
