Marsha was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on January 30, 1950, to the late Frances Reece and Robert Lee Rogers. She grew up alongside her two sisters and brother in Royston, Georgia. She attended Franklin County High School and later Georgia Southern University, where she met the love of her life, Jerome “Jet” Henson III.
Marsha and Jet married on June 21, 1975, at Royston Baptist Church in Royston, Georgia. Together they built a life in Nashville, Tennessee, where they raised their two children, Matthew Ryan and Jessica Louise. Marsha began her career as an elementary school teacher, but her greatest joy was creating a warm, welcoming home for her family while supporting Jet as he grew his business, Tennessee Restaurant Equipment Sales. Time spent at Center Hill Lake are the family's most cherished moments with the dearest of friends.
Marsha had a gift for hospitality, always happiest when cooking, entertaining, or filling her home with family, friends and laughter. A proud Phi Mu alumna, she valued deep friendships and community throughout her life. Marsha poured her time and energy into volunteering, especially with the Fannie Battle Day Home for Children, where she dedicated herself to helping Nashville’s families.
Marsha’s greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She loved nothing more than cheering them on, hosting holidays, and sharing stories with lots of laughs. She lived in Brentwood until June 2025 with her beloved dog, Sadie, before moving closer to family.
She is survived by her children, Matt & Leslie Henson (Madison, MS) and Jessica & Graham Kennedy (Charleston, SC) and her four cherished grandchildren: Lillie Haynes Henson (15), Parker Reece Henson (10), Teddy Stephen Kennedy (4), and Louise Pearl Kennedy (2). She is also survived by her sisters, Donna Rogers (Louisville, GA) and Cherry Brown (Lavonia, GA); sister-in-law, Elaine Rogers; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jet, and brother, Robert Rogers (Smithville, VA).
Her children and grandchildren will remember her as a mother and “Marsh” who loved fiercely, gave generously, and lived with warmth and grace.
A visitation will be held for Marsha on Friday, September 19 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at Woodmont Christian Church, 3601 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215 with a funeral service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Woodmont Christian Church in
Nashville, Tennessee or Summer House Beau Ridge Memory Care Facility in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
