

Mary Tucker Smith, 86, passed away at her home Sunday July 27, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday July 30,2014 from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Ridgeland, MS., Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time. Entombment will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Mary was born in Vaiden, MS to Walter and Mary Morgan Tucker on April 12, 1928. She grew up in Grenada County, Gore Springs, MS. She graduated from John Rundle High School in Grenada. Following graduation she was employed at the American Red Cross in Jackson, MS.
She met and married Harold Shelby Smith in 1947. They had two children, Barbara Winborne of Clinton, MS and Jimmie Harold Smith of Cape Coral, Fl.
Mary & Harold moved to Greenwood in 1972 and became members of North Greenwood Baptist Church. Mary became a member of the Faith Sunday School Class where she remained until her death. She served as chairman of the Flower Committee for 24 years. She served as pianist for the Junior Department for (3) years at North Greenwood Baptist Church and for the Men’s Sunday School Department for (12) Years. She served as pianist for the Adult School Class at Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson for several years prior to moving to Greenwood. She was also an active member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton where she served on the Building Committee.
Her family, two children, four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S. Smith, parents, Walter and Mary Tucker, a sister, Dorothy McCourry, a brother John Tucker and a daughter-in-law, Donna Williams Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Winborne and her husband David, a son Jimmie Harold Smith and his wife Tammie, Four grandchildren, Shelby Cleveland Smith and his wife Jennifer, Ashley Paige Birdwell and her husband Jason, Wesley Cameron Smith and his wife Holly, Lesley Ann Brinkmann and her husband Eric and ten great grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Natalee Smith, Greer Smith, Alexa Smith, Carson Brinkmann, Shelby Brinkmann, Chase Brinkmann, Emerson Birdwell, AnnieMarie Birdwell and Tyler Birdwell.
A Special Thanks to her wonderful care takers who have been by her side for over two years, Annette Jefferson, Belinda Garrett and Terrie Ingram.
