

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
A native of Texas, Max was born in Brinker, TX on January 22, 1933. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in Dallas where he excelled as a city-wide marksman champ, and went on the graduate from Southern Methodist University in 1954 with A BS in Geology; hence to the University of Colorado for a MS in Geology. Max was then taken into the U. S. Air Force in 1956 as a Photo Interpretation Specialist and honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
After a successful 50 year career as a Petroleum Geologist, most of which was spent in Shreveport, LA, he retired to Ridgeland, MS Max was devoted and loving husband to his wife, Nancy; loving dad to sons Kert Maxwell Gilpin (Michele) of South San Francisco, CA; Luke Donaldson Gilpin (Amber) of Fort Worth, TX; Tim Newton Gilpin (Beth) of Fort Worth, TX; much admired Stepfather to Ken Lewis of Brandon, MS; and Daddy Max to five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He also survived by his Mother-In-Law, Lola Boggs of Ridgeland, MS, and Sister-in-Law Dinah Fisher of Daphne, AL. His strong presence yet gentle nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
