

Maxine Carson Langston, 93, of Jackson, Mississippi passed away peacefully at Beau Ridge Memory Care Assisted Living Facility on February 5, 2022, after several years of battling dementia. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, February 14, at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, with visitation at 10am and the service at 11am. Burial will follow.
Born in Yazoo City, MS on July 2, 1928, to Lucy Everett and Charles Carson, Maxine grew up on the family farm outside of Yazoo City with her parents and her six siblings.
After graduating from Yazoo City High School, Maxine found her way to Jackson and began working as an executive assistant at Miss Power & Light Company. She then met Esse D. Langston; they married in 1966. She became a loving stepmother to William Davis Langston (“Dave”), Joe Baron Langston (deceased) and Sean Burguet (deceased). Two years later they had a son, Gregory Carson Langston.
Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cook and painter. Painting became her passion. She perfected her painting skills by participating in the Talisman Club of Jackson and with her Gaddis Group friends. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was also preceded in death by her siblings Lilly Martin, Pauline Trammell Miller, Ruby Evans King, Charles Carson Jr, and Sylvia Carter.
Maxine is survived by her sons, William Davis Langston of Kenner, LA and Gregory Carson Langston of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Langston Wood, Lindsay S. Ryan, Matthew Davis Langston, Lauchlin Davis Langston, Story Kathryn Langston, Gregory Carson Langston, Jr. and Vaughn Alan Langston, and her beloved sister, Betty Lou Clark, and her husband John, both of Jackson.
On Maxine’s behalf, her sons Greg and Dave want to send special thanks to Aunt Betty Lou and Uncle John for their enduring love and support for Maxine. They would also like to extend their gratitude to Joy Care at Living Services and to Beau Ridge Memory Care Executive Director Debby Gooch and her staff for their love and kindness for making “Granny Max’s” stay pleasurable and fun.
