Milton Collis Hale, Sr., “Buddy,” passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021. He was born in Belzoni, MS on September 10, 1927 to Robert Lee Hale and Laura Belle Seay. Raised in Belzoni, he attended school in Humphreys County. He married Mary Frances Sanders of Louise, MS in 1947.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers, two sisters, and one daughter, Theresa Ann Hale. He is survived by one son, Milton Collis Hale, Jr., two daughters, Debra Hale DePeters and Linda Hale Banks, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He was a wonderfully loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. While he touched many lives, most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He instilled in his children the importance of honesty, integrity, loyalty, persistence in education, and a strong work ethic. He modeled these qualities as a watch maker for over 60 years in the Jackson community where he was well- known for his trustworthiness, dependability, and unfailing kindness. Born in the Delta, he maintained ties as a landowner, further exemplifying his loyalty and commitment to family.
Blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, his greatest joy was spending time with family and watching old movies.
A family visitation was held, followed by a military burial ceremony and graveside services, on December 15, 2021, in Belzoni Cemetery. Friends and family wishing to honor Milton Hale are invited to do so by making a donation in his name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF), 263 Sutherland St., Jackson, MS, 39210.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the University of Mississippi Medical Center emergency and cardiology departments along with the entire hospital staff and Hospice Ministries for their compassionate care.
