Al was born on November 5, 1950, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Murray Clinton Wallace and Mary Jo Herrington Wallace.
Al retired from BellSouth/AT&T, where he worked for 36 years. He loved fishing, boating on the reservoir, baseball, cheering for USM, hunting, and woodworking. As a longtime deacon, greeter, and member of the Helping Hands Ministry at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, he went on mission trips across the U.S. to build for those in need. He cherished his Logan Sunday School class and the work they did together. Al and Melanie enjoyed countless road trips with their dear friends, the Parkers and the Callums. Al found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His motto during his illness was “God is in control,” and he lived by it.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Melanie Wachsman Wallace; his children, John Wallace (Katie) of Shalimar, FL; Landon Wallace (Jennifer) of Madison, MS; and Halley Scott Strickland (Phillips) of Madison, MS; five grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emma, Brayden, Charlie, and Grayson; and his sisters, Teresa Pierce and Sue Rayburn of Laurel, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Jo Wallace.
