She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren with whom she absolutely adored: Rachel Wirtz, Austin Crain, Lucie Louis, Alex Summerford and Louis Summerford; brother in law , Johnny Louis and wife Peggy Hood Louis, nephews: Chris Louis, John Michael and wife Alyssa Louis and Katherine Louis Penton and husband Jody Penton.

Nancy graduated from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA where she met the love of her life, Tom Louis. Nancy was given the honor of "Miss Charity Hospital." Nancy continued her post graduate training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. On January 18, 1958 Nancy and Tom got married at The St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, LA and from there moved to the Gulf Coast to live on Keesler Air Force base where Tom Louis served as a Doctor on staff. The couple moved to Jackson in 1963 and has resided here ever since.

Nancy was extremely passionate about three things: Her Church, St. Richards Catholic Church, her family and making her community a better place. Nancy served on numerous boards and Parish Councils working to better things around her. One of her main focuses was on starting the Youth Crisis Center through which she also became involved in the Mississippi School for the Deaf. Nancy was awarded "The Beautiful Activist Award" by the Governor for her outstanding work and voluntarism. Nancy was also very involved in The Jackson Zoo where she served for many years as a volunteer docent helping children learn more about animals. She also served on a committee to help design and paint the now existing Childrens Petting Zoo.

Nancy was an extremely artistic and creative person. She loved to paint, do mosaic pottery, shard glass and stained glass projects - many of which she personally donated to many silent auctions within the community. She had a love for antiques - both for collecting them and for selling them. She worked at Interior Spaces of Jackson for over 10 years - maintaining her booth and working behind the counter in sales. She also had a booth in her latter years at Antique Shops of Jackson which she enjoyed very much.

Nancy was an amazing person and loved by so many. She was an outstanding and loving wife, mother and grandmother (or nana as we called her) and She will be greatly missed. Nancy fought the good fight and is now with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.

2 Timothy 4: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Nancy was the best story teller I have ever known. When we were traveling together with the Sunkst Swim Team she would always make us laugh with her Tales. We treasure having her as a friend, and we ask God's blessing on all her family. Bob and Gloria Pedersen

I loved being with Nancy while our children were on the swim team years ago. She was one of the most thoughtful people I have ever known, and she was always laughing and enjoying herself. She was an absolutely lovely lady!
