Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by faith, service, and love for her family. She dedicated many years of service to the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, where she worked until her retirement in 2006.
Family was the center of her life. She found great joy in supporting her children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. Whether on the sidelines, in the stands, or offering words of encouragement, she was one of their biggest supporters. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family.
Patricia was an active member of the Traceland North Garden Club and enjoyed the friendships and fellowship she found there. Her faith was an important part of her life. While a member of Parkway Baptist Church, she participated in the Bus Ministry, helping to serve and minister to others in her community. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and participating in activities and outings with the senior adults of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member.
Patricia will be remembered for her kindness, generous heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and friends. Her legacy of compassion, service, and devotion will continue to live in the many lives she has touched.
She is survived by her children, Lesa (Andy) Larkins of Madison, Vanessa (Butch) Hollingsworth of Florence, Dawn (Chris) Jayroe of Madison, and daughter in law, Nancy Chism of New Albany; her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; her brother, Lee (Brenda) Thornton of Bartlett, TN; her cousin Bill (Mary) Roberts of Blue Springs, her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law as well as a host of extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Chism, son, Tracy Chism, her parents, Raymond and Hazel Thornton, her brother, Gerald Thornton and her in laws Jessie and Dewdrop Chism.
