Patsy Cotten

Patsy was born in McComb, Mississippi on July 21, 1941 to Robert John Hollywood and Eunice Carraway Hollywood. She attended McComb High School.

Patsy married her sweetheart, Harold Dean Cotten, who she met at the skating rink in McComb. Together they had two children, Christopher Smythe and Rebecca Kay.

Eventually, they moved to the Jackson area where Patsy began working at the old Doctor's Hospital, Charter Hospital and later at Ramey Agency where she would retire.

With her curly red hair and warm personality, Patsy made many wonderful friends at work and wherever she went. Each friend was as dear to her as the next. She was loyal to all of them and a true confidant. She was the best caretaker, the best listener and the best prayer warrior. Her faith was strong and she leaned on the Lord, even in the toughest of times. Her favorite expression was, "I'm so blessed." If ever in doubt she would pause to reflect and then repeat, "Hey look, I'm blessed!"

What a blessing she was to her family and all who knew and loved her! She will surely be missed.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Becky Cotten Mercier (Pete); their three children, Adriana Williams (Paul), Austin Mericer (Nichole), and Spencer Mercier; Chris's three children, Lacie Clark (Will), Kayce Saik (Damon), Payton Neal (Josh) and Kathy Cotten. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Cotten, and her parents, Robert John and Eunice Carraway Hollywood.

The family would like to recognize her neighbors Betsy and Horace Yarbrough, Ricky and Patsy Johnson, Joy Dill, Paula and David McInnis and Margaret Seale who were so special to her and to us.

Also, a special thank you to Mary Ann Albin who helped in so many ways.

Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home located at 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi on Sunday, July 6 from 1:00-2:30. The funeral service will follow at the chapel at 2:30. A graveside service will take place on Monday, July 7 at 10:00 in McComb, Mississippi at the Hollywood Cemetery.
