Paul Edward Moyers of Jackson, Mississippi, died March 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Paul was born on February 3, 1958, in Vicksburg to Edward Leon Moyers and Virginia Smith Moyers. He graduated from Reidland High School in Paducah, Kentucky, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University in Murray. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas, earning a Master of Business Administration, and at the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he earned the Juris Doctorate.
Paul worked for Gulf National Bank in Gulfport and was an officer at MidSouth Rail Corporation in Jackson. He was a practicing attorney and for many years was an associate professor of business administration at Belhaven University.
Paul was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, the Jackson Club, the Country Club of Jackson, and various honorary organizations. He also served as president of the board of the Mississippi Kidney Foundation.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Alison Stone Moyers, their children Meredith Moyers of Brooklyn, New York, and Alexander Moyers of Oxford, and his sister Nancy Moyers Scarlett (Todd) of Matthews, North Carolina. He also left behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, with the service beginning at 3 p.m. The Reverend Billy Dempsey will officiate. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.
