Randy Eure was born on December 17, 1955, in Morton, Mississippi, the beloved only son of the late James K. and Bettye H. Eure. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished father-in-law, and a deeply adored grandfather.
In 1971, during his 10th-grade year at Morton High School, Randy met the love of his life, Kathy Harmon. Most of their early dates began with Randy picking Kathy up in his prized “candy apple red” Mustang—though Kathy often insisted it was really orange. Both graduated from Morton High School in 1973. Kathy went on to study at Ole Miss, while Randy enrolled at Mississippi State University. Despite attending rival schools, their bond only grew stronger during their college years. In 1977, Randy graduated from Mississippi State with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
The following year, in 1978, Randy and Kathy were married and moved to Jackson, where Randy began his career in public accounting with Touche Ross & Co. In 1989, he joined Deloitte & Touche, where he spent more than 22 successful years. In 2000, Randy helped launch Kite Networks, a private telecommunications venture, serving as Chief Accounting Officer. He returned to accounting in 2002 as co-owner and audit partner at Richards, Sims & Iupe, LLP. A year later, the firm merged with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC, where Randy remained a dedicated audit partner, serving on the firm’s SEC Practice Committee and in various leadership roles until his retirement in 2022. In 2014, Randy was honored by The Mississippi Business Journal as one of the state’s “Leaders in Finance.”
Randy lived a life marked by integrity, humility, and faithful service to God, his family, and his community. A devoted member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison for 47 years, he volunteered consistently in ministries including Vacation Bible School and the Soup Kitchen. He also found strength and fellowship in his men's group, affectionately known as the “Tombs Group” (“The Old Men’s Bible Study”).
Randy’s passions included golf, fishing, and time outdoors with his sons. A patient teacher, he enjoyed introducing his boys to “the art of fishing,” once tying a 28-pound catfish to a tree so one sleepy son could still experience the thrill of the catch. As a grandfather, he delighted in every moment spent with his grandchildren—spoiling them joyfully and speaking often of their adventures together.
Randy had a quiet strength and calm presence that touched the lives of all who knew him. His family was his heart, and he extended that same loyalty, compassion, and support to his many friends. The true love of his life was Kathy. Despite their alma maters’ rivalry, for over two decades she stood by his side at every home Mississippi State football game. Together, they were a beloved part of the “MSU Dawg House Tent” tailgating group, where they were known as the “Friendly Ambassadors.”
Throughout his life, Randy dedicated himself to service through various civic, religious, professional, and nonprofit organizations. A mentor to many, he offered wisdom and encouragement both personally and professionally.
In recent years, Randy’s heart was especially drawn to Canopy Children’s Solutions, a nonprofit serving vulnerable children and families across Mississippi. After attending a local event in 2016, he joined Canopy’s Board of Directors and served in key leadership roles including Finance Committee Chair and Treasurer of the Executive Committee. His financial expertise and steadfast support helped Canopy expand its reach and impact through initiatives like a tax program for donors. Randy was also hands-on—organizing events such as the Annual Butterfly Ball and golf and tennis tournaments, always leading by example. In 2023, Randy and Kathy received the Chrysalis Award, recognizing them as transformational partners whose contributions helped create life-changing opportunities for children.
Randy is survived by his dedicated, faithful and loving wife of 47 years, Kathy of Ridgeland; his two loving sons Brad Eure, his wife Meagan and their two children Henry and Vivienne of Houston, Texas and Bryan Eure, his wife Paige and their daughter Stella of Gluckstadt, Mississippi; brother-in-law Atlee Harmon and his wife Frances of Tampa, Florida; brother-in-law Glenn Harmon and his wife Linda of Morton along with numerous cousins, other extended family members and a host of friends.
