Richard Waltman, 81, died at his residence in Ridgeland, MS on Friday, March 5, 2021. A visitation will take place at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm with a graveside service at 2:00 pm at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Richard was born in Bogalusa, LA on March 10, 1939 to George Albert Waltman and Clytie Galloway Waltman. He married the love of his life, Reva Carolyn Pittman Waltman, on January 30, 1959. He worked in the oil field industry for many years until moving to Ridgeland, MS in 1985. He was employed at the Ridgeland Police Department for several years prior to his retirement. This was honestly his all time favorite job. He loved the men in blue and had the utmost respect for them.
Richard (daddy) always put his family's needs first, his last - period! He loved his family more than life itself and always took the role as "protector". He was oh so very proud of his wife, children, grandkids, and great grandkids, and he never let an opportunity to brag on them slip by. He truly loved nature. As a matter of fact, his favorite pass time was sitting out in his back yard on his covered gazebo drinking a good cup of coffee while watching all of the birds that frequently visited his yard.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Albert Waltman and his mother, Clytie Galloway Waltman.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Reva Waltman (Ridgeland, MS), daughters Richlynn Walker (Bobby) of Brandon, MS, and Alicia Nowell (Jimmy) of Canton, MS, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his beloved dachshund, Sophie.
