Richard Baxter Wilson, Jr. age 82, of Jackson passed away May 8, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson preceded by a visitation from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Entombment will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Dick was born in Greenwood, MS to Richard Baxter Wilson and Katherine Sillers Owen Wilson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mariam Weems. He is survived by his loving wife Lester Senter Wilson and nephews, Richard Baxter Wilson Knowlton and Sam Dove Knowlton, II.
Dick attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from the University of Mississippi. He received a B.A. degree in 1961 and L.L.B. degree in 1964. Some of his other accomplishments included being President of the Student Body at University of Mississippi 1962-1963, Vice-President 1961-1962, member of the Hall of Fame, Member of the Kappa Alpha Order, Province Commander of Mississippi for 10 years and then Trustee of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation, President and Chairman of the Board of the Mississippi Opera Association, Trustee of Belhaven University, Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, member of Board of Jackson (Mississippi) Symphony, Jackson Ballet Guild, Goodwill Industries, Salvation Army, Mississippi Arts Festival, and received the Goodwill Volunteer Service Award.
