Robert Edward Goodson

Robert Edward Goodson, age 92, of Ridgeland, MS died January 14, 2011 in Jackson, MS. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS. He grew up in Collins, MS and was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Carrie Goodson. He graduated from Capital Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, DC. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

He retired from the FAA. He worked in Atlanta, GA and Jackson, MS.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Edna Hunnicutt Goodson, Ridgeland, MS; two sons, Marc Goodson, wife Shelley, of Ramona, CA and Michael Goodson, of Escondido, CA, two grandchildren; Courtney Goodson and Savannah Goodson of Ramona, CA. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Goodson, of Birmingham, AL. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Goodson loved the Lord. He loved and was dedicated to his wife, Edna, his two sons, Mike and Marc, his immediate family, his extended family and friends and they love him.

Robert loved to encourage young people to succeed in life. For those of us to have the good fortune to know Robert Goodson, we are truly Blessed. Robert enjoyed mathematics, sports, travel and the outdoors, but his real passion was for his family and friends. Robert possessed a truly wonderful sense of humor that his family and friends enjoyed. He was a humble and compassionate man, with a sharp intellect and a bright smile. Robert Goodson had the gift of forgiveness and compassion, he never judged anyone. His heart was a heart of love and dedicated to our Lord Jesus.

Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, at 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Jessamine Cemetery Ridgeland, MS. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Highland Colony is in charge of arrangements.
