early hours of Saturday, April 9th 2022 - on the date of he and his wife Amanda's 28th wedding
anniversary. He was a devoted husband, loving father, caring son, beloved brother and friend to
many.
Lash was born June 10,1968 in a town he always loved, Oxford, MS. He was one of four boys
which is where he learned his best attributes of arbitration, patience, and respect for others
opinions. Life growing up in Oxford provided Lash time for fishing at Sardis Lake and exploring
the woods around the small farm house where the family lived. He enjoyed watching Ole Miss
football practices from the “hill”, basketball in The Tad Pad, concerts, and cheerleading
practices. Lash and family moved to Jackson, MS in 1978 where Lash found his favorite
hobbies of building remote control airplanes, boats and cars to which he would deconstruct and
rebuild endlessly. At Jackson Preparatory School, he found his love for throwing the discus for
the track team and team spirit in cheerleading. After graduation, he was excited to return to
Oxford and attend Ole Miss.
Lash graduated from Ole Miss in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration where he was a
member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He began his professional career in management and quickly
moved into operations, then into sales, sales training, and territory management. He then
worked for Boston Scientific Endoscopy as Territory Manager for many years. Lash was
currently employed by GE Healthcare as a Territory Sales Specialist selling Point of Care
ultrasound devices.
Lash met the love of his life, Amanda Bullock at Jackson Prep. He was two years younger and,
unbeknownst to Amanda, he had wanted to ask her out many times. They later worked at
Rapids on the Reservoir water park where Amanda was a lifeguard and Lash sold tickets.
Years later on February 15, 1991, they had their first dinner and a comedy show date. For a
while, Lash lived in Texas for work causing very high, long distance phone bills. Jay Lacoste,
Lash’s dad, said he knew when Lash bought Amanda a dog, that Lash would propose to
Amanda. Too soon thereafter, Amanda was diagnosed with MS. Lash, being the loving husband
he was, doted and cared for Amanda with tenderness everyday. Their marriage was full of
adventure, love, laughter and many dogs. The best day of their life was the beginning of July,
1997, when they adopted a beautiful baby boy that they named Jace Lacoste, after Lash’s big
brother. The relationship between father and son was such a special and loving bond. From
complaining about chores, like working on the yard, to the activities they enjoyed together like
skiing, taking rides in the land cruiser, watching baseball, eating mom’s blackberry cobbler, and
“hotdog Fridays” are just some of the great times they shared.
Lash and Amanda spent every possible minute together including Sunday afternoon drives in
the Land Cruiser, RV trips, and Jackson Academy activities and sports. Lash truly honored
Jace’s decision to attend MSU. Even as a devoted Rebel, Lash was an “all in” dad for tailgates
and cheering on the Bulldogs with pride because he loved Jace and his Bulldog wife. With both
Lash and Jace having such a passion for baseball, they were able to attend the 2021 baseball
College World Series in Omaha, NE. This was a once in a lifetime family trip watching the
Mississippi State Bulldogs win the series and become National Champions. Even though Lash
was an Ole Miss Rebel at heart, he cheered maroon and white just as loud as all the fans!
Outside of his close family bond, Lash’s community participation and many hobbies truly defined
his character and love for the outdoors. Not only was he a Staff Parish Relations Committee
member for Madison United Methodist Church, he also volunteered with Make A Wish, United
Way and Habitat for Humanity. Outdoors, Lash was just as present, with activities ranging from
assistant coach for youth league baseball & basketball teams, to biking, skiing, and running in
local 5K’s. Lash loved his late older brother’s 1977 FJ-40 Land Cruiser that he restored. He
helped organize the Cottonland Cruisers Club of Mississippi where he served on their board as
treasurer. The club grew from a beginning of 8 members to 75 members presently. Their big
event, the Southern Cruiser Crawl, included trail rides and music in Arkansas each year. It is
attended by Land Cruiser groups nationwide including as far away California. Lash was also an
avid collector of antique fishing tackle & Pflueger reels which was introduced to him by his
father, Jay.
Lash was loved by so many. Whether it was his Cottonland Cruiser buddies or simply
befriending someone he barely knew, everyone was a friend in Lash’s eye. He never met a
stranger that didn't feel like a friend after talking with him.
Lash Lacoste is survived by his wife, Amanda and son Jace; his parents Jay and Vivian Lacoste
