

Robert L. “Jack” Porch, 88, passed away Aug. 2, 2015. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday, Aug. 4, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Broadmoor Baptist Church, with Dr. Jim Futral officiating. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Porch died peacefully at the Jackson, MS VA Medical Center after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Porch was born on March 20, 1927 in Pocahontas, MS. to the late John C. and Lollie Renfroe Porch. He was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth Porch Gregory and Bonnie Porch Taylor as well as his brother James C. Porch. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Faye Pickering Porch, and his son, Robert L. Porch, II (DeLeslie), and grandchildren, Caroline Porch, Avery Porch, and John Porch, as well as his sister, Evelyn Porch James.
During his life Mr. Porch was a graduate of Clinton High School and a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country during World War II. He also worked at many different jobs after his military discharge, including the Hercules Chemical Company in Hattiesburg, MS and DeSoto Furniture Company in Jackson, MS before starting his own business Alpine Park L.L.C. in 1986.
Mr. Porch was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and enjoyed attending his weekly Sunday school class with his friends. He was also active in the Wahabi Shriners Temple where he served as the head of the motorcycle corps. He was passionate in his support of the Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, running his business, and attending the many functions of his grandchildren.
Our family would like to thank the many family, friends, and healthcare workers at the MS Veterans Home and the Veterans Administration Hospital for the patient and loving attention given to Jack during his illness. Memorials may be given to Broadmoor Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry or The University of Mississippi M.I.N.D. Foundation.
