

Roberta K. Enochs passed away February 11, 2013 at The Blake at Township, in Ridgeland, MS, at the age of 87. Services will be at Broadmeadow United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 16, with Visitation beginning at 9:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookhaven, Mississippi at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Enochs was born in Harlingen, Texas to the late Roy C. Kimmell and Winifred Kile Kimmell. She attended local schools during her younger years and attended Durham College in Harlingen, Texas. Mrs. Enochs met her husband, Shaw Enochs, while he was in the service at Harlingen Air Force Base. They married January 7, 1945 and returned to Mississippi after Shaw’s discharge in 1947.
Roberta worked for over 60 years. She began was one the first employees of Southern Farm Casualty Life Insurance Company. She then became an actuarial assistant at Latta & Langston and retired from Latta, Langston & Dyer in 1993.
Roberta had many talents. She played the French horn while in high school and then later was a member of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. She had a wonder soprano voice and sang in various choral groups such as the Jackson Choral Society and the Mississippi Chorus. She always sang in the church choir, first at Galloway United Methodist Church, and then later at Broadmeadow United Methodist Church where she and her husband were founding members.
After retirement, Mrs. Enochs enjoyed serving her church on various committees. One of her church ministries was knitting prayers shawls for nursing home residents.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shaw Enochs, to whom she was married for 54 years, and grandson, Ryan Kirkpatrick.
She is survived by daughter Sherry Mladineo (John) and grandson Hunt Chandler (Jessica), with great-grandchildren Anne and Will; daughter Karen Buchanan (Bruce) and grandchildren Heather Neve (Jason) and Bonnie Buchanan; daughter Lauren Phyfer (Jim) and grandchildren Lindsey Roberson (Patrick) with great-grandson, Jack, Elizabeth Phyfer and Daniel Phyfer; daughter Marian Burrow and grandchildren Sean Kirkpatrick (Erin) with great-grandson, Tom, Ian Kirkpatrick, Matthew Burrow and Erin Burrow.
